Composer Anibal Vidal
Anibal Vidal is a Chilean composer based in London, whose multifaceted career spans concert music, music for media, and multidisciplinary projects.
He draws on his South American heritage and diverse musical influences to produce immersive works characterized by gradual processes of gestural repetition and timbral experimentation.
His creative process embraces the self-discovering nature of his approach to both, traditional and unconventional instruments to create an imaginative sound palette.
His compositions have been performed by renowned ensembles in the UK and Europe, including the Ensemble Intercontemporain (Paris), Quatuor Bozzini (Finland), Divertimento Ensemble (Milan), Cikada Ensemble (Oslo), Ensemble U: (Tallinn), Ensamble Taller Sonoro (Seville), Synchronos ensemble (Zagreb), BCN216 ensemble (Barcelona), RCM Philharmonic (London), East Anglia Chamber Orchestra (Cambridge), among others.
In 2022, he was awarded the 20th Joan Guinjoan International Prize for his orchestral work 'Gliding Murmuration'. Additionally, he won the DYCE Competition for Young European Composers 2022 award for his ensemble piece 'Liquidity', which led to a commission for his new ensemble piece 'Tonada'.
Looking ahead to 2023 and 2024, Anibal looks forward to recording and releasing his first chamber music album featuring string quartet works, supported by the PRS Foundation Open Fund for Music Creators and RCM Accelerate.
